A 17-year-old girl has been detained at the Maricopa County Juvenile Detention Center following an incident at Westwood High School. She sustained head injuries, cuts, and bruises after being tackled by a Mesa police officer serving as a security guard at the high school. Previously, the girl reported being repeatedly harassed and touched inappropriately by peers to school administrators, who failed to act. The situation escalated when, after seeking help from the security guard who ignored her pleas, she pushed her harasser. The student was received a felony charge for aggravated assault on a teacher and resisting arrest, and misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct.
