A Chesterfield County school resource officer was investigated for hitting a second-grade girl in the mouth while pulling her down the hall. The girl was dealing with behavioral symptoms of a previous brain injury at the time of the assault. The incident was caught on camera.

School resource officers at Varina High School observed students rushing from the cafeteria and Henrico Police used pepper spray to break up what they alleged to be a fight between students.
Aurora Police Officer and school resource officer was charged with three counts of official misconduct for his conduct in 2023. The officer was accused of taking photos of a 16-year-old girl without permission, sending inappropriate texts to the girl, and using a law enforcement database to look up the girl and her family members. The officer resigned and was ultimately sentenced to 1 year of probation, 32 hours of community service, and $803.5 in fines and court costs.
