A Chesterfield County school resource officer was investigated for hitting a second-grade girl in the mouth while pulling her down the hall. The girl was dealing with behavioral symptoms of a previous brain injury at the time of the assault. The incident was caught on camera.

Police arrested a school campus monitor for sexual battery. Authorities believe that the 36-year-old campus monitor had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student at the school in which he worked, it is unclear how long this relationship has been going.

A sixteen-year-old student at Islip High School was tased after having a mental health crisis. The officer told the mother of the student, “I apologize, but you know your son was tased but he did not tell me that he had any IEPs or emotional or any type of things happening…” The student later stated that “”If they were to just leave me alone and gave me a minute to just process my thoughts, it would’ve been better.”

Aurora Police Officer and school resource officer was charged with three counts of official misconduct for his conduct in 2023. The officer was accused of taking photos of a 16-year-old girl without permission, sending inappropriate texts to the girl, and using a law enforcement database to look up the girl and her family members. The officer resigned and was ultimately sentenced to 1 year of probation, 32 hours of community service, and $803.5 in fines and court costs.
