A Clark Country School District police officer can be seen on video deploying pepper spray into a large group of students of color in response to a fight between two female students. The police captain admitted that the fight was “straightforward”. It is unclear from the video whether officers attempted to deescalate the situation using other non-violent methods. The incident took place at Canyon Springs High following a basketball game with another local high school. Identities of those involved were not released and at least one student was taken to a juvenile detention center for battery.

At least one Clark County School District officer responded to an alleged fight between 12-13 unidentified male students at Western High School by using pepper spray. It is unclear whether the two officers present at the school—where the majority of students attended were Black and Latinx—utilized any other methods to diffuse the situation. Six unidentified students were issued disturbance citations and, according to the school police captain, the police response would be reviewed.

Clark County School District deployed pepper spray into a crowd of mostly Black and Latinx coaches, players, and game officials following a fight between Canyon High and Basic High School players on the football field after a game at Basic High School. Several student athletes screamed in pain as they walked back to the sidelines. The incident was caught on camera and, reportedly, at least one child under age 13 was also hit with pepper spray.
